As the season is changing, are you? Whether we realize it or recognize it, we’re constantly changing, physically that is, but not necessarily spiritually.
Has this new sermon series stirred anything within you that has caused and spiritual changes?
In the interest of full self-disclosure, I’ll share with you that my prayers have changed lately. I have prayed more and I have prayed more specifically.
My prayers have been for the good and the future of the church in Wellington. I’ve also been trying to pray before planning things myself, in hopes that the Holy Spirit will lead me into the plans of God, so that what we do here is His and not my doing.
As I was struggling with prayer this week, I was encouraged by an old Welsh minister that preached in London, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, who said,
“Words are not always necessary. When you are dealing with God you can, if necessary, do without words, because God knows our hearts. He does not depend upon sounds, upon formulated words. The slightest movement registered in the heart is heard by Him.”
I love that quote for a couple reasons. For one, it’s Biblically sound and for another, it takes the pressure off of me to say the right things the right way.
If your desire is for God’s will to be done for His glory, He knows that. So I can fumble through my words, or not use words at all, but direct my heart to Him.
Will you join me so we can collectively move more and more to having the same heart and desires that belong to the Lord? Psalm 37:4 –
4 Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Much love!
