An Outstanding VBS!

Praise the Lord for a wonderful VBS this year.  We exceeded our number of children from last year with our biggest night having 74 children in attendance.

In addition to the 74 children, we also had 46 adults for a total of 120.

I’m so proud of all of the hard work and dedication and sacrifices made to make this year’s VBS truly exceptional.

A visitor commented to me, “This is all so great, but it looks like a lot of really hard work.”  It was a great opportunity for me to explain the meaning of sacrifice.

By definition, a sacrifice is: an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy.

What is sacrificed to make VBS successful? In addition to the sacrifice of time, physical effort, and mental effort, people also have to sacrifice rest at the end of the day and time they would have spent with their family or friends.  It’s also a sacrifice to model as best we can an image of Jesus – especially if we don’t feel that we have it in us – to smile when we don’t feel like smiling, to help others instead of helping ourselves.

We sacrifice for Christ because we love Him.  We sacrifice for Christ because He sacrificed for us.  Don’t be discouraged by the difficulty of ministry.  If it wasn’t hard, it wouldn’t be called a sacrifice.  If you don’t make sacrifices for the Lord, what DO you do for Him?

Thanks for all who sacrificed to make VBS a truly God honoring experience!

Much love!
