I’m very excited about the resurgence of fellowship events in the church. I must say, the BBQ fellowship has to be my all-time favorite fellowship. We’ll definitely revisit that…
The ladies also had a great fellowship event, complete a virtual guest speaker, prayer and food.
Despite the 50 mph wind gusts, we even had a great turn out at the Bradbury’s for an evening of food and fun.
This month, our fellowship will be at the Harrises. I strongly encourage each and every person that can come, to make it a priority to come out.
Why though? Why make it coming a priority? Why would we make church fellowship a priority?
There are several reasons I could give, but I’ll give the one that I think is most important. We make fellowship a priority because it was a priority of the early church, and if there were ever a church to strive to be like, they were it.
Acts 2:42 says, 42 They were continually devoting themselves to…fellowship…
Fellowship wasn’t the only thing they were devoted to, but it was one of a handful of things that took top priority. Why? Fellowship is what makes the church, the church.
The church, which is made up of everyone who belongs to Christ, was not intended to exist in isolation. The word translated as church, ekklesia, literally means an assembled people.
Paul refers to us collectively as a body and emphasizes how each part of a body is dependent upon the other parts.
We make fellowship a priority because it’s part of God’s plan for our lives. In fellowship we are as God intends for us to be. In fellowship, though very different as individuals, we unite in the commonality of Christ, and though I can’t comprehend all of the supernatural implications of what this means, I do know that it’s a good thing and it’s a powerful thing.
So make plans to join the fellowship!
