Re-Do’s

If you hang out in the LeFlore household, it won’t be long before you hear my wife say to one of our children, “Do a re-do.” A re-do is enforced when one of the kids says something in an ugly or disrespectful way, or runs full blast through the house, etc. We like to try to extend the same grace that God extends to us when we make mistakes, so we do re-dos at our house. One of the greatest privileges of being a follower of Christ is that you have an unlimited number of re-dos. I know that I need those re-dos every day; whether it be a word spoken in anger, an unforgiving thought, or thinking about my own needs above those of my wife and children. I have a long way to go to become like Christ in my thoughts and actions. Praise be to God that He forgives me so much and even allows me to be of service to Him despite my sinful nature.

I am excited to begin preaching through the Book of Matthew on Sunday mornings. Matthew is a disciple of Christ who knows all about re-dos. As we begin this study, I encourage you to examine your life and keep your mind and heart open. It is an inevitability that God will call you to higher purposes as we study this wonderful gospel.

Do not allow yourself to believe for a second that God won’t use you or is finished with you. The example throughout the Bible is that God uses all people, regardless of their age, race, or gender. God especially uses those who least expect to be used. When God called Matthew, Matthew followed immediately. Will you?

Matthew chapter 9, verse 9 says:

As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.
