Virgin Birth
When doing my research this week, I found it very surprising that many evangelical churches have many members who do not believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. I found this to be very perplexing. I don’t understand how people can believe in certain parts of the Bible but not others. I’m not sure why some miracles are easier, for some people, to believe in than others.
I don’t mean the pick on anybody; you may be one of these people. If you are, there is a simple solution to gaining a greater faith.
Romans 10:17, Paul says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Wish that you had a greater, stronger, and deeper faith in God and the truth of the Bible? Do you struggle with skepticism? The solution is simple. Read the Bible. Meditate upon what you have read. Discuss what you have read with somebody. You don’t have to understand everything. Nobody does, not even the greatest scholars, though some may think they do.
Matthew believed in the virgin birth of Jesus:
Matthew 1:18 says, Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
I don’t struggle in believing Matthews words. I believe that Matthew was with Jesus as one of his disciples for three years and that his testimony about Jesus is true. Instead, what is still so incredibly difficult for me to understand is how God could love me so much, enough to send Jesus into this world to die for me, an undeserving wretch of a sinner. Praise be to God that he saved Matthew, and that he saved me! –Wes LeFlore
