What If…
What would it look like if every person at our church set just one ministry goal for 2020? When I say ministry goal, it could be a variety of different things.
It could be committed service of some kind that serves the church. It could be encouraging five people every Sunday. It could be praying for the preacher before he speaks every Sunday. (Who knows, maybe the preaching would be better!) It could be planning a fellowship activity of some kind. It could be getting a prayer partner that you get together with every week with a list of things to pray for together, or a Bible study partner that you read and discuss scripture with every week.
I have to warn you, in this current series, Ministry and Discipleship, the lessons are packed with expectations that Jesus has for His followers. This includes me and it includes you.
The more I study Matthew chapter ten, the more excited I feel about trying new things. Personally, I think that I have spent too much time thinking about something “big” I could do in ministry, all the while neglecting some of the most powerful things I could be doing.
For instance, praying is a big deal. It’s not a big deal because it’s us doing the praying. It’s a big deal because of who is listening. One ministry goal of mine is to pray more. That God will do great things through His church in Wellington, that He will give us opportunities to share the gospel with people that haven’t heard it and that He will create revival in the hearts of the citizens of Wellington.
What has God placed on your heart? Don’t keep it inside. Do something.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! Matthew 10:7
